“Russian Public Opinion” is an annual compendium of data through which we seek to consolidate the most important results of the surveys conducted by the Levada-Centre over the last year. Since 1992, the Centre for the Study of Public Policy, at the University of Strathclyde, has been conducting barometer surveys to monitor the mass response to transformation, across Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Before this, the Levada-Centre had been monitoring changes in the then Soviet Union. The two centres have combined their resources in a joint project. “Democracy in Russia” is a series of multidisciplinary discussions, tackling the issues of democratisation, public solidarity and overcoming the totalitarian past in Russia. The project is developed in partnership with the ‘Memorial Society’.
