In September, against the background of the announcement of partial mobilization, the level of approval of the main institutions of power decreased. Confidence has also decreased that things are going in the right direction in the country. However, the estimates remain high.

At the end of September, compared to August, the share of those who believe that things in the country are going in the right direction decreased. In August there were 67% of them, this month – 60%. 27% of respondents believe that the country is moving on the wrong path (24% in August).

The assessment of the activity of the heads of regions has practically not changed: 67% approve (in August there were 69%), 28% disapprove of their work (26% in August).

The level of approval of the activities of the lower house of parliament has continued to decline since July: 60% of respondents expressed approval in July, 57% in August, 54% in September.

The answers to the open question show that in September, compared with August, the level of confidence in Vladimir Putin decreased by 4 percentage points – up to 40%, Mikhail Mishustin – by 5 percentage points (up to 14%), Sergei Sobyanin – by 2 percentage points (up to 2%). The level of trust in Sergei Shoigu and Sergey Lavrov does not change.

Compared to June, the electoral ratings of parliamentary parties have not changed much. Among all respondents, the level of support for the Communist Party was 11%, the LDPR – 9%, the New People party — 3%, Just Russia — 4%. The United Russia was an exception: if the elections were held next Sunday, 36% (38% in June) of respondents would be ready to support it.

In %% of those who decided on the choice of the party, the rating of United Russia in June was 52%, the support of the Communist Party was 16%. The electoral rating of the “New People” has decreased to 4%, while the LDPR and Just Russia have increased to 13% and 6%, respectively.

METHODOLOGY

The survey by the Levada Center was conducted September 22 – 28 2022, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1631 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.

The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:

3.4% for indicators around 50%

2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%

2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%

1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%

The ANO Levada Center is included in the registry of non-commercial organizations acting as foreign agents.
