Approval of institutions, ratings of politicians and parties: January 2023

In December, the approval ratings of the main public authorities remained virtually unchanged and remain high. The ratings of parties and politicians also remain at the level of the last measurement.

At the end of January, compared to December, the share of those who believe that things in the country are going in the right direction slightly increased. At the end of last year there were 63% of them, this month — 66%. 24% of respondents believe that the country is moving on the wrong path (the same as in December).

The approval of Mikhail Mishustin’s activities as prime minister remained almost at the same level. The share of positive ratings was 70%, negative – 23%.

The attitude to the work of the heads of regions has slightly deteriorated. In January, 70% of respondents approve of their activities (72% in December), 25% disapprove (23% in December).

The number of respondents approving the activities of the lower house of Parliament decreased slightly. In December 57% of respondents approved of the activities of the State Duma, at the end of January – 55%. The share of negative assessments was 40% (37% in December).

According to an open question (respondents were asked to name several politicians they trust the most) in January, the level of trust in the main political figures remained almost at the same level as in December: 43% trust Vladimir Putin (44% in December), Mikhail Mishustin – 17% (18% in December), Sergey Lavrov – 15% (14% in December), Sergei Shoigu – 12% (13% in December).

Compared to November, the electoral ratings of parliamentary parties have not changed much. Among all respondents, the level of support for United Russia was 37% (36% in November last year), the Communist Party – 9% (11% in November), the LDPR – 8% (the same as in November), the SRPP – 5% (4% in November), “New people” – 4%.

In %% of those who decided on the choice of the party, the rating of United Russia in November was 54%, the support of the Communist Party was 13%. The electoral ratings of the LDPR, Just Russia and “New People” were 12%, 7% and 5%, respectively.
