In May, as in the last few months, the assessments of the activities of the main public authorities have not changed significantly, the level of approval remains high. The majority of respondents still believe that things are going in the right direction in the country. The trust of the main public and state also has not changed much, while Yevgeny Prigozhin got into the top ten for the first time.

At the end of May, the proportion of those who believe that things are going in the right direction in the country has not changed much. If in April there were 68% of them, then this month — 67%. 23% of respondents believe that the country is moving on the wrong path (in April – 21%).

The share of positive assessments of the activity of the heads of regions increased slightly: if in April 70% approved of their work, 23% disapproved, then, this month – 72% and 22%, respectively.

The assessment of the activities of the lower house of parliament also does not change: 59% of respondents approve (as in the previous three months), and 35% disapprove (as in April).

According to an open question (respondents were asked to name a few politicians themselves, whom they most trust) in May, the level of trust in Vladimir Putin was 42% (in April – 40%), Mikhail Mishustin – 18% (in April – 15%), Sergey Lavrov – 14% (as in April), and Sergei Shoigu – 11% (in April – 10%). For the first time, Yevgeny Prigozhin got into the top ten – 4% of respondents trust him (in April – 1%).

METHODOLOGY

The All-Russian Levada Center survey was conducted on April 20-26, 2023, on a representative All—Russian sample of urban and rural population of 1,623 people aged 18 years and older in 137 localities, and 50 subjects of the Russian Federation. The study is conducted at the respondent’s home by a personal interview method. The distribution of responses is given as a percentage of the total number.

The statistical error in the sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:

3.4% for indicators close to 50%

2.9% for indicators close to 25% / 75%

2.0% for indicators close to 10% / 90%

1.5% for indicators close to 5% / 95%
