The return of Alexey Navalny

The level of approval of Navalny remains the same since September 2020 (19% and 20% in September). The level of disapproval has increased and is now 56% (50% in September).  The level of approval is lower particularly above those who use television as the main source of information (64% vs. 56% on average for the sample); Internet-users and especially telegram channels audience have much better attitude than the respondents on average (45% vs. 19%).

Do you approve or disapprove of Alexey Navalny’s activities?

Neutral feeling towards Alexey Navalny predominates: 29% have an indifferent attitude towards him, 16% cannot say anything good about him, 14% have nothing bad to say, while 12% feel dislike and 10% feel respect for the politician. The supporters of Alexey Navalny feel respect more often (45%) or have nothing bad to say about him (31%). Navalny’s critics more often have a neutral attitude (31%) or cannot say anything good.

How can you describe your attitude towards Alexey Navalny?

At the same time up to 40% of the respondents among Russians aged 18-24  positively think of his decision to return to Russia, only 16% think of it negatively. Among those, who receive information from Telegram channels 51% has a positive attitude towards the politician’s return. Among TV viewers only 14% have the same opinion.

How do you feel about Navalny’s decision to return to Russia?

Most Russians (68%) have not changed their attitude towards Alexey Navalny recently.

The level of trust to Alexey Navalny was 5% in January.

This survey was conducted January 29 – February 2, 2021, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1616 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.

The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:

3.4% for indicators around 50%

2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%

2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%

1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%
