Attitude towards Alexey Navalny

Approval of the activities of Alexey Navalny is declining. If in September 2020, 20% of Russians approved of its activities, then in June 2021 – 14%. At the same time, the number of those who disapprove of hispolicy has grown: from 50% to 62%, respectively.

Most of all, respondents aged 18-24 approve of Navalny’s activities: 24% approve, 59% disapprove. The least of all – respondents 55 years and older: 8% approve, 67% disapprove.

Among those who approve of the president’s activities, only 6% approve of Alexey Navalny, 71% disapprove. Among those who do not approve of Vladimir Putin’s activities, 30% approve of Navalny’s activities, 45% do not approve.

A third of Russians (32%) support the decision to recognize the organizations founded by Alexey Navalny and his associates as extremist. Slightly less – a quarter of respondents (27%) do not support this decision. 38% of respondents expressed their indifference.

Almost half (45%) of respondents aged 55 and older support the decision to recognize these organizations as extremist. The respondents aged 18-24 and 25-39 support this decision the least – 20% and 19%, respectively, support it, 33% and 32%, respectively, do not support it. At the same time, the age group of 25-39 years is most indifferent to this decision – almost a half of the respondents (46%).

Among those who approve of the president’s activities, 40% support the decision to recognize organizations as extremist, 20% do not support it. Among those who do not approve of Vladimir Putin’s activities, only 16% support this decision, 42% do not support it.

This survey was conducted June 24 – 30 2021, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1620 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.

The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:

3.4% for indicators around 50%

2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%

2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%

1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%
