In January the ratings of V. Putin, M. Mishustin, the State Duma and the Government of the Russian Federation have grown. Half of Russians believe that things in the country are going in the right direction.

 

50% of Russians believe that things in the country are going in the right direction, 39% (5% less than in December 2021) — that the country is on the wrong path.

The share of Russians who approve of Vladimir Putin’s activities as president of Russia has increased up to 69% – an increase of 4% compared to December last year. The share of people disapproving of V. Putin has respectively dropped by 5%.

The changes in the assessment of the governors’ activities are insignificant: 59% of Russians approve, 37% disapprove of them.

The share of Russians who approve of the activities of the State Duma has increased by 4% – 45%. Compared to December last year, 6% fewer Russians disapprove of the activities of the lower house of parliament.

The greatest change in trust can be noted for Vladimir Putin: in January, a third of Russians (33%) began to trust him – 4% more than in December. Other politicians have minor changes: Sergey Lavrov “overtook” Mishustin and took a place in the top three politicians who enjoy the greatest trust of citizens.

METHODOLOGY

The survey by the Levada Center was conducted January 27 – February 02, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1626 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.

The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:

3.4% for indicators around 50%

2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%

2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%

1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%

The ANO Levada Center is included in the registry of non-commercial organizations acting as foreign agents.
