In November, respondents the events related to the coronavirus: the introduction of QR codes, the appearance of the new Omicron strain, were the ones that stood out the most (16% of Russians). Another 15% of respondents highlighted the accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine; 5% – the migration crisis at the Belarusian-Polish border; 4% – the increase in tension between Ukraine and Russia and the deaths of famous people.

Problems of the society

In August, Russians considered rising prices, poverty and corruption to be the main problems of society. A third of respondents considered the coronavirus epidemic one of the main problems of the society. Concerns about rising prices have grown in the last few months.

Top July events

In July, Russians most remembered natural disasters – floods, fires, and so on, 21% of respondents told about this. 17% noted events related to coronavirus and vaccination. Another 13% remembered sports events: the Tokyo Olympics, Euro 2020 and others. 5% noted an increase in prices.

Top June events

In June, Russians most remembered events related to vaccination and new restrictive measures (23%), natural disasters such as floods in the Crimea and fires (13%), an increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus (12%).

Top May events

In May, Russians most remembered the tragedy at the Kazan school – 35%, various holidays (May Day, Easter, Victory Day) – 7%, events related to coronavirus and vaccination (6%), as well as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (3%).

The restriction of air communication with Turkey

Most Russians are aware of the restrictions on air travel to Turkey. Half of Russians support this decision, one-third do not support it. Mostly older age groups of respondents support the decision, while younger groups do not. 44% of respondents believe that the decision is intended to protect Russians from the coronavirus, and 41% think it is a political decision.

Top April events

In April, Russians remembered most of all Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly. Respondents also paid attention to the news about Alexei Navalny, the deterioration of the situation in Donbas and the deterioration of relations with the West.

Religiosity during the pandemic

In a March survey, 10 percent of Russians said the coronavirus epidemic had affected their faith, while 28 percent thought it had affected the country as a whole. We compare the data with the results of an international survey conducted in the summer of 2020.
